The efforts undertaken by Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi to cleanse the armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo of Rwandan infiltration should not be underestimated. Several officers of the Congolese army previously served in the Rwandan Patriotic Army, including the current National Security Advisor of Rwanda, James Kabarebe, before later joining the security forces of the DRC.
The Rwandan Patriotic Army “RPA”, the Rally for Congolese Democracy “RCD”, and the March 23 Movement “M23” are among the channels through which several Congolese officers have passed individuals considered collaborators who have, over time, weakened the Congolese army in the face of repeated Rwandan aggressions against Congolese territory.
The Congo River Alliance, the latest mutation of Rwanda’s aggression against the DRC, once again faces Congolese resistance. France against Nazi Germany, the United States against terrorism, Ukraine against Russia—these countries have demonstrated resistance and have hunted down traitors and collaborators who infiltrated their armies to weaken them. Likewise, collaborators infiltrating the ranks of the Congolese army are seen as serving the hegemonic ambitions of Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda.
A list circulating in Congolese cyberspace identifies 15 active generals and 65 FARDC colonels considered collaborators with Rwanda. For the majority of Congolese citizens, these officers must be subjected to thorough individual examinations to guarantee the loyalty of their army.
